Son of Harmonium Maestro Jyoti Goho, Sourabh started learning tabla from a very tender age of five. At the age of seven, he started learning under the Legendary Tabla Maestro Pandit Shankar Ghosh.
His first performance was at the age of nine, with his Guruji Pandit Shankar Ghosh’s Orchestra “Taal-e-bole” in the year 2000. In the year 2003, he got a special prize from Sri Aurobindo Institute of Culture, in an Instrumental Competition. After that, he was invited by Vistaar- An Organisation for Promoting Indian Classical Music. That was his debut solo performance and it was highly appreciated by Media- Hindusthan Times (HT City).
In the year 2005, he also got a marvelous opportunity to render his performance infront of Eminent Gurus in ITC Sangeet Research Academy. In February 2006, he got yet another oppurtunity to perform tabla solo in his Guruji’s house “Dhwani”.
He performed in a documentary which was directed by his Guru for promoting Indian Classical Music in France. He had the rare opportunity to become a Gandabandh- Shishya of his Guru, in September 2007. He is very fortunate enough to accompany the Legend of Kirana Gharana, Late Pandit A Kanan Sahab, during his riyaaz Sessions.
In January 2008, he received third Prize in Maya Mitra Instrumental Competition for his excellence. In the year 2010, Sourabh received “National Scholarship Award” from The Ministry of Culture, Goverment of India & performed a tabla solo at the prestigious ITC Sangeet Research Academy. In this year, he received Second prize from Murari Smriti Sammilani.
In June 2013, he made his International Debut at Shanghai, China and in August 2013 he performed a tabla solo under the lotus feet of Swami Vivekananda at The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark, Kolkata.
In January 2014, he played a Jazz concert at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi for American Institute of Indian Studies. In March 2014, Sourabh performed at The Mathieson Music School, Kolkata and conducted a tabla workshop for promotion of Indian music among the youth. Recently, he has performed at various venues in Kolkata including Rabindra Tirtha, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture and Satyajit Ray Auditorium ICCR as a co-artist. In November 2014, Sourabh accompanied his father on tabla in his solo concert at Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
In early 2015, Sourabh had conceived an Indian Classical Ensemble with instruments like Saxophone, Flute, Sarod, Sarangi & Tabla.
Besides Music, he had completed graduation in B.COM Accountancy Honours from the University of Calcutta. At present, he is pursuing Master of Business & Administration (MBA) from Heritage Business School, Kolkata.
